Improving school performance in Primary schools, is a key mile stone to improving high performance and improved literacy in schools

School Enterprise Project

WAF in collaboration with Teach A Man To Fish is running school enterprise challenge project in Arua district in 30 schools, where WAF is a partner in West Nile region. Teachers are trained on business skills and entrepreneurship. The teachers after the business training will train the students to have business knowledge and support their parents and become future entrepreneurs. Youths in Uganda constitute of over 70% unemployment force, and they lack skilled technical workforce hence failed to be absorbed

Pre-primary school establishment can improve the standards of rural education, the rural schools are often behind standards in performance and always miss to join better schools, a number of factors are outline;

  • Lack adequate support from parents
  • Lack of food at school, children study hungry as their teacher eat at home during lunch time
  • Girls miss out due to menstrual disturbances and lack of sanitary towels, they feel been ashamed by boys
  • Teenage marriage is high, their is an urgent need of awareness and livelihood support



WAF supported this girl with part of her tuition to finish ordinary level education in Gulu district, her mother couldnot afford to finish all the school fees for Namugaya
